Copied straight from my GM Parts & Accessories Manual from late
71 concerning engine mounts (MOUNTING ASSEMBLY) and frame mounts
(BRACKET-MOUNTING ASSEMBLY).
In a nutshell:
ENGINE MOUNTS
64-67 283/327 and 68-71 307 show the same replacement engine mounts
(3990914) [MUST use frame mounts 3872815/816 when using this replacement engine
mount on 64-67 283/327]
68 327, 70-71 350, 68-69 396, 71 400/454 show the same engine mounts
(3990918)
66-67 396 show the same mounts (3990916)
70 400/454 show the same mounts (3962748)
FRAME MOUNTS
64-67 283/327 frame mounts 3840755/756 (original)
66-67 396 frame mounts 3872815/816 (see above for
283/327)
68-71 307 frame mounts 3980707/708
68 327/396, 69-71 350, 69-71 396/400/454 frame mounts
3980711/712
Aftermarket mfgs (Doan, Borg Warner, Anchor, TRW, etc) of Chevy
engine mounts had different styles with and without the safety
catches.
I've heard too that there is a height difference between small block and
big block frame mounts but according to the GM numbers that might only be true
in the case of a 64-67 with original vs. dealer replaced engine mounts and 68-71
307 vs. everything else (V-8) frame mounts.

-----Original Message-----I'm doing the same thing to a 69 chevelle. I know a little while back there was a bunch of mail about the "big block/small block" frame bracket. I did a little research on my own. First I checked the frame brackets on my 71 original LS5 car. The part numbers were 3980711 and 3980712 for the left and right big block brackets. Then I checked my factory assembly manual and it also showed the same part numbers used in 70 big block chevelles. So I happen to have those brackets to bolt to my crossmember and my problem is solved. But here is the question that maybe someone out there can answer. Looking at the factory assembly manual it shows the same part number brackets used for 350 small blocks. But a different part number frame brackets for 307 small blocks. So when it comes to 68 thru 72 chevelles there may be no such thing as separate big block / small block brackets.
