A lot
of guys on the Impala SS list (94-96 list) hate dexcool. The impalas have
a problem with the heater core blocking up thus not throwing any
heat.
For a
long time everybody blamed it on Dexcool.
I
think the final conclusion is that it is believed GM put a few clay tablets in
the radiator at the factory just to be safe. This brown clay crap is
now believed to be the heater core clogging problem.
I
flushed my Impala 2 years ago and replaced it with Dexcool again. So far I
have not had my heater core clog again.

think what I am trying to say is Dexcool is probably ok.
BTW,
what does ELC stand for?
