Keith is it doing this on turns or sitting still? the gas gauges in all my cars move when i take a turn. If it is doing it while sitting still, it may be that little ground wire that comes off the sending unit and screws to the body. Normally a grounding problem will cause the needle to go half past full like the one in my 70 does from time to time. Hope this helps
