First, the engine is a 350 rebuilt 4000 miles ago, it has flat-top pistons, high volume oil pump, stock heads(ports cleaned up, edlebrock performer intake and carb, crane cam and lifters (dont remember duration but, lift is .440). (I know it is small, but for now it will have to do till I get an overdrive and can afford more horsepower). The engine has 10W-40 and a fram oil filter. And it is in my '70 Chevelle Malibu. The lifters all seem a little noisier than normal and it has a intermittent lifter clatter, but if I raise the rpm a little it will go away. The oil pressure at idle (all warmed up running at around 180 degrees)is around 50-55 psi and in gear it drops to 25-30 psi. Running down the road at 45-55 mph, it is about 60-65psi. Do you all think the oil pressure is fine? Do you think the lifters just are bad? I have tried re-adjusting the valves and while adjusting, they will be fine and the before I'm done, there it starts clattering. Do I just need to get a new set of lifters. It seems to me, that the lifters are bleeding out at lower RPM. If I step on it, Sometimes I hear a little clattering, so I dont stay on it. Any opinions? Brian Zack '70 Chevelle Malibu
