Hey my fellow Ohio buddy, you talked me into it. Not sure how many guys
would be interested, but we'll see.
Here's my report:
The good:
Great Cars of all types.
Don's buddy Mike mentioned he thought there were more Chevelles than any
other specific type of car. I am not certain, could be! I know that
Mustangs and Cameros were not far behind though.
Fantastic weather in a great location. Couldn't ask for better!
Tons of 55's-57's there in all kinds of shapes including show quality.
Guys had cars there in all conditions...including some I wouldn't have
the guts to try to show off. Some were really bad. But made me feel
better about not having to have show quality to bring it to a rod run.
There did appear to be a few good deals for those looking to buy, but
had to come early to get them, or on Sunday when prices came down.
Most rods were for sale. Plenty to choose from for buyers.
People lining the 2 mile long strip with chairs to watch the cruise
Could still get in the restaurants, the town handled the crowds well.
Cops were on hand but only got out and busted people when safety
(stupidity) became an issue. Great job by local law enforcement!
Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum was worth the $8.25 for admission, and
while there were some neat cars and even 2 69 Chevelles, they were stock
as from the factory cars.
The Bad:
Too many teeny boppers there in mom and dad's car (non rods) cruising
for most of the rods to come out and cruise. Although a few did.
The traffic into town started Friday afternoon and didn't end until
midnight Saturday. Trying to get through town could take you hours!
The hotels rates were jacked up from around $40 normal rates to well
over $100 and most were sold out.
Car prices that were too high in my opinion and included just a shell of
a 55 chevy for $8,500
Not Sure/Interesting?:
Teen boys in pickup trucks with large American and Rebel flags sticking
up in the back bed with several shirtless guys singing to country music.
I took a couple pics myself with my digital. I can try to get one down
to size to fit in an attachment to the list if anyone is interested. I
remember one knock out red paint job that I just had to take a pic of.

Hey all,
Just wanted to give a short report on last weekend's outing at Pigeon
Forge
Tn. In a word.... Great!!
I arrived Friday afternoon & left Saturday evening. I wish I could have
stayed longer but other committments prevented it. The time I did get to
stay there was fantastic though. The weather was great friday &
Saturday.
There were literally hundreds if not thousands of cars on hand. Every
kind,
every make, every color, every style, every price range imaginable. I
saw a
lot of neat chevelles!
There were $500 cars all the way up to $200,000 cars!
I'd love to have been able to take about $20,000 with me. I'd have come
back
with two or three neat cars!
I took four roles of film & I'll hopefully post some pics when I get
them
developed & scanned.
I went down with my best friend Mike who is a fledgling car guy. I also
met
my friend Steve (from our list) down there Saturday. A good time was had
by
all. Next year we should try to get several of us together & go down.
That's my report in a nutshell. I'm sure Steve will file his report
soon.
