Uh, *whose* "horrible" instructions? Since I believe I might've been the
only one who offered any instructions, is this directed at me? I really
hope you're referring to the instructions that came with the meter...ever
heard the old saw about flies, honey, and vinegar?

Don't try to start the car when measuring the resistance. Leave the ignition
off. Take 1 ohmmeter lead and touch it to the "+" terminal. Take the other
ohmmeter lead and touch it to the "-" terminal. Now each lead is in contact
with a coil terminal at the same time. Look at the ohmmeter and note the
readout. I just measured my Accel Supercoil and came up with almost 0
resistance. Unfortunately I don't have a stock coil on hand to compare
it to. If Pertronix has a website they might have some further information
about measuring a coil's resistance. IIRC when I tried their "Ignitor"
ignition a few years back a coil that measured less than something like
1.2 ohms needed a ballast resistor installed in the ignition circuit.

BTW, you can get a decent multimeter at Radio Shack for under $30. It's
a handy thing to have and a worthwhile investment.
