Subject: Re: [Chevelle-List] disabled needs advice

Hi Rick
Thank you for responding to my request.  No, 66 wasn't my grad. year, 67 was.  In 66 I went to a junk yard looking for fender skirts for my 56 chevy.  The guy there didn't have any at the junk yard, but he had some at home.  He had just sold his 56 for his one week old green 66 SS 396, and he offered to sell me the skirts for $5.  He took me to his home in the SS and I have never through all those many years to get over that car.  He was sent to Nam, the following week and never made it back.  I never got over that part since I my time was on the way in two years.  I never forgot that one time with him and his car.
thanks again
jake

Jake - Welcome to the list.  Don't give up on a web search.  There are businesses which will inspect a car for you.  Also there are list members thru out the country who may be able to look at a car for you.
Finally there are kits ( www.vintageair.com ) to add air to chevelles which are reasonably priced.  Good luck in your quest.  BTW - 66 wouldn't be you graduation year, would it?

I am looking for a SS 396 but it has to be in a certain condition.  Due to my disabilities I have to have an SS that has good AC and an automatic.  From what cars I have seen on the Net, most cars do no have air nor do they have AC.
What years would be my best chance of finding one ?

Also, due to my problems the car has to be near where I live (Knoxville TN) because I cannot go to different states to check them out. I only drive to the Dr's once a month, and the rest of the time I am home bound.

Also does anyone know of a way for me to find one based on my heath, in plain words a person that I can trust ?
Needless to say I am not a kid looking for a hot rod, but a 52 year old man that would like to see a dream come true of owning an SS 396 especially an 1966 model.
thanks
jake
