A negative to acid dipping is the possibility that all of the acid is not removed or neutralized after the process. Residual acid solution will cause paint adhesion problems and maybe othre problems too. Good acid dippers probably have an answer to this. You might want to ask a professional powder coater about this before committing.
The galvanizing thread is easy to find in the Paint & Body Forum at Chevelle Tech. It was still active within the past week. It is a 3 pager and covers lots of Q&A. Powder Coating is as durable as advertised. I sandblasted and painted the frame of my '69 and it turned out great. But who knows how long the finish will last on the street. I will tell you that sandblasting, if you do it yourself, is very time consuming and labor intensive. I did mine in my driveway and boy were my neighbors happy. If I had to do it again, I would find someone who did it for a living and have it powder coated, I just love how clean and neat a good powder coat job looks.
