Hey Steve...

The Air Gap will be a tight squeeze under a stock hood. We just put one on a Ford and thought it would fit no problem. Well a drop air cleaner element, 1" smaller/shorter air filter, and some adjustment on the hood height with spacers we finally squeezed the hood shut. I would figure you will gain 2-3 inches over a regualr RPM.

Gary,
I'll pass on the carb questions. Going to use a Spread-Bore Quadrajet myself.

But I also have a 396 in '69 with a stock flat hood and am thinking about using the Performer RPM Air Gap manifold myself. Is that what you were refering to? If so, I wrote Edelbrock tech support and just got an answer back from them today.

Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing the #7162 Performer RPM Air Gap manifold & matching cam package. Is that manifold available polished?

Not at this time, but I am sure it will be soon.

I am guessing that since it's not specifically called out as not fitting that I can fit this under a stock 69 Chevelle hood ok?

It will be tight, so I would use a drop base air cleaner.

The engine I am putting it on is a June of 1971 stamped 402 (396). I have oval port heads. It appears to work ok with that?

Should be fine.

Hope this helps!

Shortly I'm going to have my 396 rebuilt, looking a carbs.  Would a Holley double pumper 750 cfm be in order??

I'm looking at a edelbrock rpm high rise dual plane intake, Anyone have any past experience??  Will this work with cowl induction??

Thanks for all your help

Gary
