Had a nice cruise night downtown here last
night. I have been putting a '64 together for a year or so and had it
ready to go out in public. Engine and transmission swap ( 194 powerglide
to 327 th350), mufflers and exhaust, silver blue metallic paint, tires and
wheels along with all those little things to make things work; plus as much spit
and polish as I had time for. Everything went well and it was a very
enjoyable event. Cruised a little, parked awhile, cruised a little
more. Now today I need to get started on what would have made the
cruise a little bit better.
My master cylinder must be bad and my brakes went
from soft to I hope I can get home. My column shift was awkward and I wish
I had taken the time to get a floor shift in.
I need help here, if anyone has some
thoughts. Should I replace the single diaphragm master cylinder with
another? Or should I start putting a better braking system together.
I am hearing and reading about dual m/s and I am wondering if there is one that
will situate and bolt up easily right where the old one is. I have drum
brakes all round single m/s no power.
Also I am wondering about a shifter. I would
like a simple, compact, good looking floor shifter. Anybody like their's
allot? How about a few suggestions that I can check out. I have a
column shift from a powerglide that I managed to hook up to the
350.
Sorry about length of my short story.
overday
