As a personal quick engine fix that I have used from tractors, lawn mowers, heavy equipment, to race cars, motorcycles, and then my daily driver (not in my Chevelle yet though..... don't smoke bad..... yet, needs valve stem seals), I have used Lucas oil treatment. It doesn't have any silicone in it so it don't gum up... its just some thick stuff!!!! I have used it in an old 350 that we have in a truck for a long time cause it smoked, rattled, and the lifters were flat...... believe it or not but that engine still lives, I did rebuild it though awhile back, while I thought it would be gummed up something awful, everything was clean and in good order so I guess it burns back off. I have a buddy that has a 2.5 and it runs off straight Lucas (not recomended) but thats 'cause this sucker suprises me any time I see it start.... ticking time bomb!!! I have another bud that swears by that new Valvoline and it did help his truck, all the seal leaked, and it s! moked a bit, now it runs a heck of a lot better and he don't have to add oil between oil changes.

While this doesn't pertain specifically to a Chevelle it
does involve a Chevy 350...
Does anyone have any experiences with the new motor oils
that are designed for high-mileage engines? Supposedly
they make engine seals expand to reduce leaks, and since
the 350 in my truck leaks from just about every possible
place I'm interested in trying some. I know Valvoline
has "Max Life" and IIRC ei! ther Pennzoil or Quaker State
has come out with one. Thanks!
