Thanks Tom from the word of experience. Makes me feel more secure about doing the frame-off bit. No troubles getting the bolts/mounts to line up right when going back on?
JD: I got the "weld supports into the door section" from a local paint shop guy. Maybe he was refering to some of the newer cars they deal with and these older ones are a little more rugged? The "weld the floor pans in before you take the body off the frame" I found on the Chevelles.com web site in the Tech section in the "Body Shop" discussions. I plan on putting mine on some sort of rotiserie as well...will probably build it myself now that I know how to weld and have a welder :) Them guys that build things like that and pass it on are saints! I also go to many car shows, talk to a lot of experts wherever I can find them. I don't know if it's possible to have too much information .... As long as you sort out the true from the "maybe's" ...if you can. Team Chevelle is a great resource and probably the best for our Chevelles, but those Street Rodders have been around for many years in most cases and some can make the parts if they aren't available. Some of those guys can make a car stay together with duct tape and chicken wire and make it look good ...if they had to. After seeing them and the resources available to them ....such as companies making brand new repro parts for cars not made in over 70 years.... I was impressed.
