You're not going to see any difference at cruise speeds because both transmissions end up with a 1.00 ratio.  I'd probably keep the 'glide in your situation.

If you haven't already been through it, here's a little light reading:  http://www.chevelles.com/techref/ftecref22.html

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Opinions= Powerglide or 350 Turbo for 67 Chevelle Malibu

Hi:

I seek an opinion on the following subject.

I have a 67 Chevelle that had the original 283 engine with powerglide transmission. I have replaced the 283 engine with a 383 stroker engine. Like it already. The original powerglide transmission is still in the vehicle and works good. I also ran across a

350 Turbo Transmission. It needs a little work.

Question:  If I am using the 67 Chevelle as a cruiser (not racing or hotdogging) should I keep the current powerglide in the 67 ?  Does a powerglide work better gearing wise on a highway versus a 350 Turbo. I have heard the 350 Turbo will make a big difference on acceleration and performance but what about highway travel ?

Thoughts please.

Thanks,

Ken McDee
