I went
to a locale paint distributor for one of the major brands. I thought the price
was exceptional. While the paint he carries is brand name and a registered
distributor, the brand of primer he gave me is not from that company. It seems
to be locally made. It probably saved me over $200 from a major brand
name.
I
bought 1 gal. of self etching primer/filler (+1 Gal
Catlyst)
and
1 Gal
2K Catalyst Urethane Primer/Surfacer with 32 oz. 2-K
Activator.
+ 1
Gal Laquer thinner.
The
place was booming with business from local paint/body shops. I had to wait
in line. That could be both good and bad.
Should
I have opted for the epoxy primer? What would that have gained me over what I
have? I am still trying to make up my mind if I am going to try to spray
the color and clear coat, or if I am going to spring for a pro to do it. I have
never painted a car before.
What I
am worried about, is what if I put a lot into a pro and have cheap primer cause
me problems? Should I worry? Should I take it back and go get the name brand
stuff?
