I pondered this at one time for my 69BB. I quickly found out that it would not be worth the trouble. The way I understand it the firewall in a AC car is quite different from a non AC. When I do go with AC it will be Vintage air. I think in the long run it will save in just frustration factor alone. Plus Vair doesn't hurt or modify the original body in any way.

I've found a guy who sell a complete setup from a 1972 model and I would like to put it in my 1968.
 
I wouldnt mind getting some small parts or brackets, but does the big parts fit ?

Thanks for the info guys. Am glad to see it's just i'snt me  doing the install job the wrong way. I was going to spend today putting the rest of them on but believe I'll spend it taking them off. I might keep the hose clamp covers as they work fine and IMO look better than hose clamps. At least that way it won't be a total loss.
