Your description of the Bash makes me even more excited that I'm going! Unfortunately I won't be meeting you in Chattanooga since I'm North of Bristol (about 5-6 hours).
I hope to get on the Dyno and see what my 454 is putting to the ground. I signed up for the Muscle on the Mountain drag race and the car show. What do I need to do or who do I see about parking with ACES?
I'm really looking forward to this road trip - I'll see you there!

Hey Herb, I'm going! In fact, on Friday the 18th, the Peach State Chevelles, Heart of Dixie Chevelle Club and Mid-South Chevelle Club will be converging at the Chickamauga Marina in Chattanooga, and from there we're going to take in the collection of ACES Member Kayo Erwin. Besides his passion for Chevelles (he brought a PAIR of Z16s to Chevell-abration '99!), he also collects other low-mileage, original musclecars... mostly Chevys, but some really cool "off-brands" as well. After spending a few hours there, we'll make the trek north on secondary roads so we can take a slower pace and enjoy the fall colors in the Smoky Mountains. The amount of daylight left will probably determine whether we take I-81 the rest of the way to Bristol, or jsut stay on secondary roads from Knoxville on.
Naturally, we welcome anyone who's interested in making the trip with us. For more details, call me on the ACES Hotline (615) 773-ACES, and I'll be glad to fax/forward directions to the marina.
I went to the Bash last year, and it was a great time. Lots to do and see, and they even had a portable Dynojet that you could strap your ride to and get some real performance/horsepower figures. It wasn't free, but if I remember, the cost was very affordable. Also, it's a very family-oriented event, and Year One even brings in a portable, inflatable playground for the kids. Bristol Motor Speedway is an incredible facility nestled between a couple of mountains, and the weather that time of the year is very tolerable. I really enjoyed meeting many of the heroes of hotrodding, and collected plenty of autographs.
I'll look for you and your yellow El Camino, Herb. Oh, I almost forgot, I've also arranged for a special Chevelle-only parking area on the show field for ACES Members. Hope to see y'all at the Bash, if not sooner in Chattanooga!

As far as I know, Herb, just show up at the car show area and tell 'em you're an ACES Member. The ACES decal on your El Camino (you DO have one, right?) and your Member card will go a long ways towards confirming your status as an ACES Member. Any difficulty, come see me or Year One's Pat Staton. He's my contact there. Looking forward to seeing you and your El Camino again, Herb. I checked it out pretty good at the Maryland Regional, but didn't see much of you...
