I have Edelbrock Elite aluminum valve covers & air cleaner on my Malibu. I
will never use them again. They look terrible once they've been exposed to
the weather & road dirt for a season. I've tried cleaning them but so far to
no avail. I've used chrome before & never had any problem. They still get
dirty & nasty on a driver but they will clean up ok.
I've never had a problem with chrome timing chain covers & I've used many of
them over the years. They're just damn near impossible to clean once they're
on behind the water pump.
Chrome dress up kits do make a huge difference in the appearance of an
engine compartment though. I also like the black crinkle ones but am afraid
they'd be hard to clean also, although I can't remember having any myself.
