Help Guys, Tonight I started my Chevelle after it sat for a couple months (been in storage). It turned over kinda slow then fired and I noticed the lights were kinda bright and the amp meter (stock gauge) was nearly pegged. I turned on the high beams and they went out. When I got home I checked the battery voltage with the car running and it was over 15 volts and the alternator was too hot to touch. The lights had power to the sockets on high and low beam but there wasn't continuity on the high beam side of the lamps themselves. Must have blown the head lamps! The alternater is a nearly new SI series, could something have happend to the regulator to make run at "full charge" . I also noticed when I disconnected the ground from the battery I got a spark. Nothing was drawing current that I could tell so I disconnected the 2 wire alternator plug and rechecked and then there was no current draw. What gives, any ideas? I guess I'll pull it tomorrow and take it back to the parts store and have it tested but I have never seen a problem like this before. Any and all input (no pun intended) would be appreciated as to what is going on and how did it happen . Thanks Bob Belz 71 SS454
