There used to be a place in Cleveland on St. Clair (i think) called Heavy
Metal Funyard. They used to do the $20 all-you-can-carry thing. They had a
bunch of hoods and decklids with seatbelts tied to them and you just dragged
it around the yard. Throw your parts on it after you pulled it off the cars
in the yard and keep going. When you were ready to leave, you had to carry
it "over the line". Usually you'd go with a friend or two so you had a
hand carrying your hood over the line.

This one day back in the early 90s when me and a friend were there, they
actually had a fairly solid '70 Chevelle four door in the yard. (a 20+ year
old Chevelle in an Ohio junk yard is a true rarity). A lot of the big stuff
was missing, but i grabbed lesser things, like the taillight lens and other
small pieces. I dont remember what month we were there, but it was still
winter. Snow started falling and while I was hunting around the yard and my
buddy had the hood, the snow covered some of our stuff and got crushed by
one of the lift-truck vehicles driving around the yard. All my Chevelle
parts got crushed.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] great deal

There is a salvage yard near me and thay are having a sale.
29.95 for everything you can carry.

I went today and got myself the entire spindle assembly off of a Cadilac
Sedan. Giving me 12inch discs. Guess I can't use my 14 inch wheels anymore
the power brake booster, mastercylinder and proportioning valve.

They have a core charge plus taxes but I carried the stuff out of there for
50
bucks.

When they say carry it out they meant what you can carry. They have wheel
barrels that you can use to cart your tools and booty around the yard in.
Then when you check out you have to pick up everything and carry it 15 feet.
They had old seat belt straps to tie stuff together. So I ties the spindle
assemblie to gether threw them over my shoulders and picked up the radiator
and brake assembly and walked out.

I am thinking about going back and finding a tranny. 20 dollar core for
that.
So for 49.95 I could have a tranny.

Jason
