I'm
forwarding this message I found on a circle track racing website. I don't know
the fellow but it looks like he's in for a rough ride. If anyone has any ideas
that could help him, or is of a mind to pray (as I am), I am sure either or both
would be welcome.
RE: Rusty Glosser Rusty has a fluid-filled
cyst on his pituitary gland. This was discovered about 6 months ago. During
a recent complete eye exam, it was found that the cyst had grown and is now
putting pressure on the optical nerve. Rusty has already lost some
peripheral vision. If the cyst is not removed in the very near future, Rusty
will go blind. Since this involves the pituitary gland (the master gland),
Rusty has also had other negative changes happening besides loss of some vision.
Rusty is a hard-working person, however, he does not have a job nor
insurance. His previous employer closed the business, and Rusty has not
sought employment because he feels he could not give his best, and because
he would need time off for surgery and recovery.
He has seen an
endocrinologist and a neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon has recommended that he go
to Mayo Clinic. Mayo Clinic has informed him that they will need between $28,000
and $33,000 for surgery plus $3,000 for testing and evaluation prior to surgery.
He also has about $4,000 owing for MRIs and testing that have been done by the
doctors here in Lincoln.
He applied to Medicaid, but was refused because
he was not blind or disabled. He has also applied for SSI, but they will not
make a decision for 60-to-90 days by which tIme Rusty wIll be blind.
An account has been opened at Union Bank for donations, and fundraisers
are being discussed and planned.
Any help you can give will be. truly
and gratefully appreciated. Donations can be made at any Union Bank, or they can
be sent to:
