Thanks Clint!

two more things,
1. do you know if the zr-1 factory 17x11 and 17x9,5 wheels will fit on our chevelles
ore are they the wrong backspacing.
2. do you know the diameter and thickness of the front rotors and whether the front
calipers are two or four piston.

Thanks again

I guess I'm building a pro tourer as well, but its all about money and an angry
girlfriend and a missing garage

Yes,all ZR-1's were equipped with the ZF 6spd. There are some auto ZR-1's running
around there but they weren't built that way from the factory.

When I got my 99 Ram, I test drove all of the trucks from the big three. (I was
looking for 4x4 extended cabs) I didn't like Chevy's low ground clearance, and what I
thought was a wimpy stance and NEVER cared for their interiors. I then drove the F250
heavy duty. It rode like a brick! I know it was a 250 but c'mon! I did like the ride
height though! The price however was outrageous and the dealership didn't want to
bargain. I didn't like the new (back then) F150 styling so I didn't consider it and
still wouldn't. Lastly I drove the Dodge. The value for the money was excellent, and
the 4x4 height was nice. The seats were comfy and it rode fine. It handled pretty well
too. When the lease on that was up last year, there was not even a moment's hesitation
over which new truck I would buy. I went with the newly designed Ram 4x4 Quad cab
sport. I ended up with $3500in incentives! Pricing was $500 over invoice. The incentive
e warranty. IT was a no brainer! Everyone I talk to that has a new Dodge has nothing
but great things to say about it. If you are in the market for a new truck, I urge you
to go drive a new Dodge. You'll be very surprised. I'm not a die hard fan of ANY
brand. I love my Chevelle but believe me, GM seems to have no loyalty to me as a
classic GM owner, so why should I care if I support them. Plus with bonehead moves
like discontinuing the Caprice and giving all the fleet business to Ford's Crown Vic
(cop cars, cabs etc...) and dropping the Firechicken and Camaro... well, they're just
plain out of the loop! Sorry for the rant, I'm still drinking my morning coffee! Later
gang...

Man, even I, a die-hard GM fan, am compelled to consider a Dodge truck. They
outperform the GM trucks with price, performance, a far better warranty, and possibly
even quality. I've had very few problems with my GM trucks (89, 94, 97, 2000), but
I'm still considering a Dodge.
      WAKE UP GM!

Well,I guess you need to get out more often,Mikey.<g> Dodge dealers are
taking deliveries of 1/2 ton Hemi trucks,as I'm typing this. My local dealer had
twelve of them in stock, yesterday. As for the price,I've got a order form filled out
on my desk for a 1/2 ton four door Dodge with Hemi engine,Lone Star package with
polished 20" wheels, top of the line Infinity sound system, etc, definitely no stripper.
Price will be $24,700. I've always been a GM man but they do not currently build a
true four door 1/2 ton truck with full 6' bed. Neither does Ford. On top of that, both
GM and Ford are priced substantially higher.Clint Hooper

I believe last I heard the Hemi is only available in 3/4 ton and up trucks.
No 1/2 tons. Also I really question you finding a hemi truck at under 25G's. Even a
stripped out 2wd, no option anything... probably would need to specially ordered if ya
did... But I could be wrong as I no real drive to buy anything with a Dodge logo on it
and haven't looked at them much. But yes cool none the less though. Mikey

I have been waiting to drive one of the 1/2 ton four door Dodge trucks
with Hemi power and the Lone Star package(20"wheels). Having driven just about every
new truck out there with just about every engine/trans combo,I can tell you the Hemi
Dodge will smoke a Chevy truck with the 6.0 engine. One truck I drove was a 3/4 ton
longbed with Hemi power & auto and it was pretty impressive for something so heavy.
One of the new 1/2 tons with that engine should be a fun ride, especially for less than
$25K.Clint Hooper
