I wouldn't go that far Larry <g>.  The 4-4-2 then meant 4-bbl, 4-speed, 2-exhaust.  I don't know if you could actually get a 4-speed, dual exhaust 4-door Cutlass in '64 but it'd be a novelty for sure but according to the Popular Mechanics web site, no 4-doors are known to exist.   With the 330cid engine in 64, I wouldn't put it up there with the 389 GTO.  The 400-inch engine in 65 did bring it in line with the other mid-sized GM muscle cars.

In 1964 another GM car had an option that was available on any f-85/cutlass except station wagons. The 4-4-2 was an option which started as a police option. So there were muscle cars way back in 1964 that were 4 doors.
