Nice combo Bill... did you go with an aftermarket fitted ford nine?

You definitely have the potential to get that car in the elevens. In fact by getting some weight off her your could be quite a bit faster... especially on the nose. It always amazes me how heavy our chevelles are.

The car is a 71 that I bought as a project 2 years ago. I built a .030 over 454 (460) with Speed Pro 2465 forged pistons. With my combination I have a 10 to 1 compression ratio. It has a balanced rotating assembly, ported oval port heads, a complete Crane (139731) roller cam setup with their gold race roller rockers, an 850 Holley double pumper and an Edelbrock RPM air gap intake manifold. I used a MSD 6AL ignition system with a MSD billet distributor. It has Hooker super comp headers with 3” exhaust through Flowmasters dumping right in front of the Ford 9” rear end with a 3.89 posi center chunk turning 28 X 12.50 - 15LT  ET Street tires. It has a performance built Turbo 400 with an ATI 3000 stall converter and a B&M ratchet shifter.

The car weighs just under 3900 pounds with me in it. I’m sure it will run 11s the way it is. My best 60’ was 1.754. I think I can get it to 1.6 with a little practice. The driver is the weakest link at this point.

GReat job Bill... I honestly can't remember your combo you are running (eng, trans, gears, tires) you are running but I'd say you must be going pretty good to pull low 12's w/ 110. But really nice times for the first time out... keep picking away and get in the 11's. What are your 60 ft's looking like? Good Luck.

Well, I finally got the beast to the track. I was expecting mid to high 12s. What I got was a 12.14 out of the box followed by a tire spinning, 12.25, a 12.07 and a 12.16. My MPHs were 110.61, 111.19, 111.35 and 110.89. The humidity got real high by my last run and pretty much squashed any hopes of 11.90s for tonight, although I know the car has 11s in it. The driver just needs to find them. The car runs goooooood.

I am a very happy gearhead right now. All the problems I went through to get the car to this point almost seem worthwhile…..well, almost.
