Larry, I can’t imagine why that would require "major
modifications". The rear quarter panels are the same except that 69 has
rear marker lights, and the tailgates are the same. The 70-72 tail lamp lenses
also appear to be very similar in shape to the 68-69 lenses. The main
difference is that from 70-72 the tail lamp bezels had a little reflective
strip down the side, so the lens was a little bit narrower. The 70-72 lens is
also a bit concave on the inside whereas the 68-69 lens is convex. It seems to
me that a set of 1969 bezels & lenses would fit right onto a 1972 w/ no
problems, but you would need to change both the bezels and the lenses. John Nasta -----Original
Message----- I need some help. a club member has a
1972 El Camino which has 1969 tail lights in it? the el camino was built in Van
Nuys. has anyone ever ran across this before? we have found no indication of
body work in the tail light area. from what i understand 69 tail lights will
not fit into the 72 without major modifications one other person has told
me they have seen this before. The car has been inspected on a rack and
taillights have been pulled. This is one that baffles me. any help would be
