Do you have the complete trim tag info on the car with the dash for paint code? I have seen this on a few 68 and 69 Chevelles. There have been some Carolina Blue Chevelles found with the dash trim tag no paint code. Also seen a special interior code for the 68's with Buick style interior.

James,

Hello.  Did you know that the cowl tag that has the paint code listed as "--" is a special order paint ?  It is my understanding that you could order just about any color from the GM lineup for an additional cost.  If memory serves me correctly, it was something like $28.00 extra.  But the belief is that you received a better quality paint job.  The reason for the dashes is simple - there was no paint code listed in the Chevelle lineup for the color that was selected.  Having the dashes "--" in the cowl tag is really something kind of special, at least to me.
