Fairly soon I will be doing some major work to my 69 Chevelle in the performance department. I will be putting in a ZZ4 Fast Burn 385 crate engine (with all the ZZ4 options) from GM and also adding on a Vortech gear driven V-1, S-Trim supercharger. I’ll probably add on some performance headers and a flowmaster exhaust with a crossover (not an H). I might use the Chevelle for a little strip running but no serious racing. I have an original 12 bolt rear-end (don’t know the gears, I’ll have to check that out) and a brand new TH400. I deal mostly in the interior side of my car and have always left the engine work to someone else. Now that I have the time and money to spend on the engine, I might as well get the best stuff I can right? J
Sooooo…. Does anyone have any recommendations for carburetors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, performance distributors, intake manifolds, and headers? I know that’s a lot of stuff but I am trying to get the best performance parts for my money and I know you guys (and gals) have a lot more experience then I do. I have heard that Accel plugs and wires are pretty good. I am pretty much brain dead on distributors, intakes, and headers. My current carb is an edelbrock 850cfm which is way more then I need right now (and probably more then I’ll need with the new engine) but I got it for free so I hooked it up anyways. I know I have an edelbrock intake but I don’t know what kind, I still have to find the numbers off of it. My car has been in the shop for about 3 months now getting body work done, I am starting to go stir crazy. My little Nissan pickup just doesn’t have the same power J
Also, for those interested, I saw a tool on Horsepower TV that measures times and horsepower. I thought it looked useful - http://www.gtechpro.com/. I might be trying it out here pretty soon.
Thanks for any information you can provide!!
