Hey Kurt,
Any switch out of an 81 or later GM truck should work fine for it.
About hooking up a remote starter, I'd use a breaker bar and a socket on the crank bolt. You can get the timing mark more accurate for setting the valve lash. That is just the way I choose to do it personally.
