Hi jim,
Yes compression will most likely add power to your combo, but I assume you want to run on 92 octane gas. In reality the static compression which you give doesn't mean boo, it is your dynamic compression that is what determines what octane you can run. This is greatly dependant on your cam selection and more precisely your intake valve closes. But this is probably gonna be a bit over your head if you haven't been into high performance engines for a bit. So I'll just follow the K.I.S.S. theory and keep it simple.
I would keep with your current pistons. 11 to one is pretty steep assuming you are running cast iron heads and I doubt you are gonna be able to run it on pump gas. Aluminium can sometimes take 11 to 1 depending on your cam selection, quench, CC finish, etc. For the record a lot of people would say that the 10.25 maybe a bit high with cast heads, but if that is what you ran before with it just run 92, keep it running cool, and be very observant for pinging or looking for detonation on the plugs. If you are unsure on how to read plugs there are quite a few articles out there on the net that can help you out. While everything is apart you may want to talk to your machinist/head shop and see what they say and discuss what options you have if your wanted to take your compression down a bit. Good Luck
Mikey

My '67 327 had to be bored .030" over, and now I will
be needing to get new pistons for the block. After
checking my trusty Chilton manual, it shows that the
only differences between the 325HP 327 and the 275HP
327 (mine) for that year were the compression and the
timing. If, when selecting new pistons, I buy the
ones that would go with the 325HP 327, will I
instantly be gaining the HP? I know there's some
controversy regarding running higher compression with
today's pump gas, but I had hardened exhaust seats
installed in my heads to help get around that. Is
there anything else I would need to do? For all
intents and purposes, the 325HP motor supposedly runs
11:1 compression, where mine runs 10.25:1.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
