I used Passport a couple of years ago and they were
top-flight. They were quite a bit more expensive this time around, so I didn't
go with them. However, when I did use them, I was impressed by the fact that
the rig looked brand new, and the driver not only showed me how it worked, I had
to back the car out on the upper level and be lowered down. Good thing the brakes
were working. It's a weird feeling backing onto a little platform and waiting
for somebody to tell you when to stop, and hoping that you actually will stop.

Another idea is to know the particular driver you want to hire and ask for
them. It may take a while but you will have more peace of mind. Although these
folks were unavailable when I had my car shipped, I met the drivers who
delivered my neighbors Porshe last year and they were super. Gave me a tour of
the rig and everyhting. He owned the rig so he was very particular about it and
the job he did. It was a husband wife team out of Beaufort SC. Mike and Cindy
something. I have their card at home and will try to post it tonight

this is another area you
can or could get in trouble. using a broker you could end up with a transport
company that someone has told you not to use and if there is a problem you
would be dealing with more than one company. I did a bunch of research before I
hired the company I used. 1) They were the closest 2) They seemed very personal
(was told the driver had classics) 3) Their rate was competitive 4) Bottom line
is they lied to me.

Hi listers,
Another thing I found out in the past couple of days is that FedEx has
apparently bought out Passport Transport. Seems they want to get into the
car shipping business.
