I could not begin
to guess without knowing the cam specs. 500 BHP is possible, but you might
need to buy a new cam to go along with the heads. If you used a good
aftermarket set of heads and a roller (or solid) cam, you should be able to get
to a reliable 500 HP level.
I have a copy of
Dyno2000 that can do reasonable estimations, if you have a few set-ups you want
to compare. Without knowing anything and using a few stock head files I
have, I was able to make a 468HP/489TQ engine with a roller cam, Edelbrock
Performer heads, at 9:1 compression. The cam is a 0.669" lift, 278
duration cam. I know nothing about big blocks and what cams they like, so
others might be better able to help out.
Assuming your cam
is a hydraulic cam, then you might be looking at 414HP/446TQ instead. The
roller cams make a big difference, but they do cost a bit extra. The key
to building the engine is to get a head that flows really well and a cam to
match it. The Chevy Hi Performance website has a section on head flow
