Pelle, Positraction (a GM trademark name like Pepsi or Xerox) was available on both 10- and 12-bolt rear ends as well as "open" (or non-posi rear ends) and was optional in most cases. Yes, there is a special Positraction gear lube for them that's different from the open rear ends; they even came from the factory with a silver or red tag (depends on year) either attached to the differential cover or the fill plug itself stating it was a Positraction and to use the special gear lube.
