A question to the fellow header-users out there... Is it pretty much a rule of thumb to have to use a starter heat shield if you have headers? I keep having problems starting my motor after it's been run for a while, but if I give it a few hours and fires right up. I'm pretty certain that it's the starter getting hot, but this is my first time having headers on an SBC and wondered if it was a common problem.
