Different assembly plants used different tags. Your Kansas
tag shows options in those last numbers, of which there are 5
groups.
Group 1 (understood)
E =
RPO A01 - Tinted glass (all)
X =
RPO A31 - Power Windows
Group 2
E =
RPO C60 - Air Conditioning
Z =
RPO M40 - TH 400
G =
RPO D55 - Center Console
M =
I've got reports of this being M35 (Powerglide) and M40 (TH400) and don't know
which is correct. If it's column shifted, could you tell me if it's a 2 or
3 speed?
Group 5
X =
unknown but probably something like auxiliary lighting group or convenience
group that contains numerous individual options and something they would have to
prep the body for before assembly.
The
numbers behind the KAN on the tags are not production sequence like the last 6
of the VIN. The numbers behind the plant ID on the tag(s) are Fisher Body
unit numbers and don't seem to follow much of a logical sequence. For
example, I have two 67 Chevelle SS cars built the same week at KC, one has a
BODY number of 169 and one is 6363.
FWIW, I have a lot of 67 decoding info at my Team67.com site and
I'd love to add pictures of your two Elky trim tags to the site. I
currently have one for Baltimore and 2 for Fremont (mine included)...neither
Baltimore nor Fremont had accessory options coded on their tags like other
plants. Looks like a very nice pair of 67 Elkys!
Just to expand a bit on info Mike gave, 763B is for bucket
seats and the A2 is black w/vinyl top and the 729A is bench
seat.
