Title: 700R4
Glad you like the 700 Dale. But am I having a senior moment here? I thought you were getting a 200R4. Maybe it was someone else. Anyway, congrats. I think you'll really like it.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 700R4

I just drove back from Phoenix Trans in Weatherford with the new 700R4 in the GR8PMKN.  I think I'm going to like it <G>.  Crusing along at 75 turning just under 2000 RPMs is sure easy on the engine as well as the ears.  Just to check the mileage, I filled up about 75 miles out of town and again when I got home.  Mileage increased from just over 11mpg to almost 16mph at a fairly steady speed.  A short test for sure but it was raining all the way down there and about half the way back and I was tired of driving.  Might be a bit worse overall in town than it was with the 4-speed due to the lower gearing, but it's sure going to beat stopping every 170-180 miles next trip I take to Nashville, KC, etc.

The guys at Phoenix (apparently) did excellent work in the installation and fabrication of the trans cooler lines and bracket as well as the B&M Quicksilver shifter.  We'll see how it works out over time.  All I need is to get the Plexiglas console cover recut to fit the new shifter location and I'm in business again.  The trans tunnel required NO surgery at all (yea!).  About 3" were removed from the driveshaft, crossmember slid back, one hole drilled for new trans mount and it fits with room to spare.  They were a bit surprised that it didn't require any massaging but then he asked if the body mounts were relatively new; they're about 4 years old.  They mentioned that most early A-bodys do require some work usually due to old body mounts that let the body settle on the chassis.
