The TREMEC will require major tunnel surgery. No doubt about it. Keisler sells the same transmission as everyone else, but they will claim the others' won't fit. Now, I think their crossmember drops the rear of the transmission which might allow it to fit in the tunnel, however, that screws up your driveline angles, fan-shroud clearance, exhaust-to-ground clearance, distributor-firewall clearance etc. Be sure to ask plenty of questions along these lines.
Also, if you have the TH350 oval tube style crossmember, it'll work without modification. Just move it rearward a couple of inches. You don't need a new one.
The price for the custom shifter from Forte's should be $300,
although he's not yet priced it. Total for you would be around $2300

I have been also looking at Fortes. They say they are on the verge of developing a Tremec that will actually locate the shifter in the correct place for a 66 and allow you to use the 4 speed console. But I haven't seen a price yet.
Also Kiesler says no cutting needed with there "kit" for $2700.
How are they doing that? All Tremec I have seen have major tunnel surgery.
I also seen a place to get a 6 speed Richmond for around $2700.
I'm so confused.........

I think the five speed is a simpler swap, and cheaper as well. Check
out Keisler (http://www.keislerauto.com/gm/chevelle.html) for a great
solution that has all the parts and makes sure everything will work and
fit. Without looking at Specs, the five speed is (I think) lighter and
