I bought a CSI unit from Jegs. I was able to clock, or rotate, the
solenoid into a position that didn't interfere with the headers or the
block. There are holes provided to do so. I bought a TCI starter first
and had to return it because it didn't have enough positions to clear my
headers.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Q: 1972 BB Starter engine

I've got a 1972 BB in my Chevelle & I'm told that there's
a smaller & more powerful starter that would give me
extra space to the very hot headers & that it's
not as sensitive to the heat!?

Whish starter are they talking about? which one will fit?

As it is now the starter sometimes gets very hot & refuses to run.
And obviously always when it's most inconvenient ;-)

Best regards
Pelle Andersson
