Helo all, I have a 71 Malibu that i am restoring ground up (hopefully). i have the soft ware that identifies engine codes. Unfortunately, the stampers stamped the stamp too far to the right , and a few of the letters did not make it on to the engine block. I do know the code starts with a "d". And thats it. In the software history, there were no engines in 1971 manufactured with the code letter dtarting with a "d". The latest engine code that started with a "D" was a "307" made in 1969 and earlier. The block is definately a small block, but it is ( to me ) a " larger of the smalls". I s ther any other way of properly identifying the block other than the engine code? I tried to trace it by the parts numbers of the intake and head's but I have come up empty so far. Is there any way of properly  Identifying the block other than the lost engine codes and unability to trace the other engine parts to the block itself ? Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
