Probably had, or a friend had, a 283 after the original engine
went sour. Cheap, everything off the original small block fit so why
not?

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 1962-283 V-8I am in process of stripping a 71 Malibu down for restoration. I pulled the motor out and after some research and some help from you guys, found out that its a 1962 283. Obviously its not the origional but I dont know why one of the former owners put a 283 in it. Does anyone know if there is anything special about a 283 built in 1962? I stripped it down and its in great condition. The bore is still the same as it was when it was built. Thanks.
