Diane, You'll need to first install mounts to the tunnel that the console screws into. You can install them with sheetmetal screws but at the factory they are welded and they are more stable and look nicer welded. Then screw the console to these mounts and the mount on the shifter base. I could give you exact measurements for a 69 on the mounts but mine is a 4 speed so I can't tell you were the shifter needs to be mounted exactly.
