Diane, My advise is do what YOU want. Don't try to satisfy or impress others. I had the same dilemma several years ago when I started a frame off on my 69. My solution was to do the numbers matching 69 Chevelle SS 396/375hp by the book. I then bought a 69 Malibu to do the way I wanted and have fun with. Guess which one I've been working on for the last year while the other sits on the back burner. You got it the Malibu. It will be done this spring the "highly desirable" car could take years :) My opinion, unless it's documented a rare option car or a documented SS you will not endanger the worth of the car by doing it your way.
