Ok this is an update for whoever was asking about headers on Brodix raised exhaust port heads. Well supposedly if you believe the Chevelle tech board the Hooker Super Comp headers fit with no modifications, but then I have been reading there about motor mounts for over an hour and have heard every possible scenario as truth on these damn frame mounts. Sbc and bbc are different... only 307 frame mounts are different... neither are different and both put the motor in the same place... bbc uppers and small block lowers will raise the motor an inch... blah blah blah... bah humbug! :P Here is my scenario... so take what you will from this... I bought this car (a 68 300 deluxe [do all 300 deluxes come with a 350? or are they available with a 307?]) and had a 350 small block in it when purchased. I now have a 496 BBC with Brodix raised exhaust port heads on it (they have been milled slightly) dropped in and a set of #2250 Hooker Super comp headers. I left the frame mounts that were in the car in there and used a set of moroso BBC upper mounts. Well with this scenario my driver side header collector hits the floor pan pretty bad. No way to ding fit this. Now I may try a 307 or a 350 upper mount and see if this takes the motor down enough to fit the headers. My only concern is that if I do that I think the oil pan is gonna hit. So I dunno... Motor is pulled for the winter while I try and figure out what is up and try and find some 307 or 350 uppers or maybe some plain jane motor mounts ane see what the difference is. I may end up making my own or I may end up ditching these heads to go with some bigger cc heads and change pistons to go 8.5 to 1 and go with forced induction like I really want to do anyways.
