I was able to tell I had also mis copied the BDY number. I have now corrected it and found it to match the VIN. Car was built at
Arlington Texas. Thanks to all.

043440 is nothing more than the production number at the plant in which it was built meaning that it was the 43,440th car to roll off the line in the 1970 model year.  If you really want to know the exact time it was built look for a combo number/letter combo, something like 05D  the numbers are the month 05 = May, the letter is the week, D = 4th week.  Also check out www.chevellestuff.com as well as www.chevelles.com.
