Coilovers generally require perches/brackets to be welded to the rear axle housing and a crossmember welded in for the coilovers to attach to on top. They are generally used for straignt line drag racing performance. The biggest improvement is due to the shocks being mounted straight up and down vertically. Most coilpver setups also make changing the rear ride height very easy as the brackets have different holes for establishing height. Should I use coilovers or std coils & shocks at the rear? I'm going to change coils & shocks but haven't decided whether to go for standard or coilovers.
Does coilovers replace both coils & shocks?
Do I have to do any modifications to the rear?
it seems to me that there's going to be a lot of stress put to the bolts that usually holds the shocks in place or do I mount coilovers differently than std shocks?
