John Are you talking about the little rod off the accerator that goes to an electrical switch? As you know, there are actually 2 separate systems here....1 which is all vacumm....which when you stomp on the gas closes the flapper on the hood. There is a vacumm pod under the hood that goes to a ported outlet on your intake just behind the card. There is also a check valve in this hose too. The second system is the electrically activated flapper which is not seen because its inside and under the outside flapper that you do see. There is like a kick down switch above the gas pedal that when you stomp it it is electrically connected to a selonoid on the hood that opens the second flapper.
