I was told to use the 70 series with a Big Block myself by the Vice
President of Sales. If you look close enough, the 70 Series said they were
made for a big block. The others don't.
I wasn't given a reason on why, but I suspected it had a lot to do with the
extra flow capacity of the 70's. Those things are huge.
Of course they played down the X pipe.... seeing as how they don't produce
one ......yet. I'll bet it's only a matter of time before they catch up.

I was told, by flowmaster, that the 40-series mufflers were not recommended
for big blocks because the tend to pop. Are you running 40s on a big block?

So, is that what it is that I'm hearing out of my American Thunder 2 1/2"
Flowmaster system w/ the H-pipe? I was trying to figure out if I was having
detonation.
