I have 235/75R15 on my ’70 and I have the front lowered about 1 ” in the front and I have the 15X8 chrome rally’s (but I don’t remember the backspace offhand) and these tires are just too tall and turning into driveways, I do have some tire rub on the fronts with the top of the inner fender well at the top bolt/fenderwell. Occasionally, I will see a very slight rub on the sidewall on the rears also. (but only occasionally). Also depending on what gears you have, that tall of a tire might hurt you. Right now, I only have 2.73’s and it kills my 60’ times. I do plan on going to around 26” – 26.5” tall tires when these wear out.

Hi everyone: Most of us are
probably using 60 series and 70 series size tires. The radial redlines I
want are made by Coker and come in the taller 75 series which also has less
tread width. Does anyone know what the largest is that will fit a 65 in
front or will the taller tires give me clearance problems or what. I'm
currently running 235/60/15's all around with no problems up front and a little
rub in the rear on good bumps with a later year 12 bolt. I'll be getting
new wheels with 1/2 in more backspace from the standard 4in. I've been
told that the 235/75/15 redlines may give me problems in front even though the
tread is over 1/2 in less. I could probably be safe and go with 205's on
front and 225's on rear but I don't want to short my self. the sales rep
thinks the 235's may be OK on the rear. He says they're not supposed to
give technical advice. I'm ready to spend a bunch of $$ and he's not
allowed to give advice!! Any other place to get radial redlines??
All comments and advice will be greatly appreciated. BTW the wheels I
like are the Weld Draglites. I think they look good on a 65 and after 2
years of soul searching and dumping the rallyes, that's my decision.
Didn't have rallyes in 65 anyway. Think out loud guys & girls and let
me know something. I've been on this list for a while and I know the
answers are out there. Thanks to all. |
