If you have an ohmmeter check your plug wires for resistance. Any idea how old they are? Are all your ignition wiring connections clean and tight?Points should gap at .019" or if you have a dwell meter (preferred) 30 degrees. Take off the cap & rotor & check the wire to the points from the coil. The wire can wear through and short out, causing poor running. A bad condensor will also mess with you--there's no way to check one, just replace it when you change the points.
How old are the cap and rotor? If it's been more than a couple of years since they've been replaced it'd be a good time to do it, especially since they're (relatively) cheap items.
Sorry, can't help with the points. When I replace points I use an HEI. ;^)
