Ok, in the process of changing headers on my '65 (I'm still not done) for $h!t$ and Giggles I did a compression check. I was not pleased with the results. I don't normally do this on a car that's been sitting until I run it a while, and let the rings re-seat. Keep in mind that the car has not been driven more than 1 mile in the last 4 years. 5 cylinders tested 105, two tested 75 and one tested 80. Now this is on the hand held, non screw in type, so it generally will be a couple pounds lighter than expected. I was happy with the 105 since they will probably get better with some heat/time, but the others were low. I guess I'm thinking out loud here but do you think I should do a re-build, or try and run it a while and see what it does. It does smoke a little on startup, but so did many of my cars that were parked for years, and they all stopped smoking with some miles.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Charles www.65ss.com
