Jim,
   AS for your aftermarket Tach. It sounds like alis hooked up correct. on factory tachs their is a tan as Tom mentioned but on the aftermarket tach it is different. You have your red which will go to the fuse box, you green to the negative if the coil, your blue/yellow to your dimmer switch for the light , and since you are having problems with it jumping I would try running the black directly to the (-) negative of the battery and see if that fixes your problem.
