Hi Mark, Check out this web page, though not an official study, it should answer most of your oil filter questions...
http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html Herb Lumpp http://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/index.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Mark Weber Sent: Sunday, March 28, 2004 7:10 PM To: The Chevelle Mailing List Subject: [Chevelle-list] AC Delco oil filters, any good? I am a firm believer in believing my own eyes. The Car Quest store has cut aparts for oil filters, Fram, AC, and theirs. Fram is Fram and anybody who has cut stuff apart and compared the internals says they are cheap. I saw that. AC Delco has the nice blue finish, but the insides were questionable. The guy was showing me where the spots were where there is no spring for bypass or where there is no rubber seal etc. He said three or 4 years ago Delco was bought or sold out and now the filters are made cheaper. The brand is so strong that they get away with it and nobody knows or cares. The Car Quest filter of course (how else would the story end?) is built the best. They have a flimsy red stamp on the case so the appearance looks kind of cheap. The filter had more good parts in it though. Has anybody else heard this? Mark 71ss.
